Ultimately God does not send anyone to hell. If we go there it is because in this life we don't want Him. We don't trust him and we avoid him. We don't want to listen to Him, or obey His commandments. We are willingly disobedient. We don't want anything to do with His church and we don't want Him to guide our conscious. All of this behavior is a rejection of God. When we die like this we take ourselves to the same place that has nothing to do with God and that is Hell. I have heard it said that the gates of hell are locked from the inside because they want to keep God out just as they did in life, so in death.
If we seek God in this life and want him to be part of our life. If we believe in His teachings and follow them, if our will is to do God's will then when we die just as in life we sought to be with Him, surly we will be.
