The healing mystery of the Eucharist 06/04/2010
0 Comments

The mystery of God's love for us is contained in the most Holy and Blessed Eucharist.  The Eucharist is the source of all healing. Not all healings are healings of the body. As St. Paul reminds us in 1 Thessalonians 5: 23, we human beings are tri-dimensional: we are body, soul and spirit. That means we can experience healings in our souls and in our spirits, even if we don’t always experience healings on the physical level.

Everyone wants to go to Heaven 04/13/2010

Everyone wants to go to heaven but no one wants to die to get there. That includes not only a physical death but dying to ones selfish desires.

Young adults have forgotten what sin is.

I was amazed to find that most young adults do not think that sexual intimacy outside of marriage is a sin let alone a mortal sin.  If that was the case then why did God give us the commandment not to commit adultery. (Adultery includes fornication, masturbation and all forms of sexual intimacy outside of marriage).  So if God said it was a sin did  Jesus waste his time and suffer and die on the cross for sin. Have countless others died to protect His teaching. What did Jesus say?  "No fornicators, adulators and even those who lust in their minds will enter heaven"  1Cor 6:9.

Young adults say they do not want to hear this. They are tired of having this crammed down their throats.  That is a rejection of the truth. The reality is that it is not enough to say "I believe in God"  The devil believes in God and knows who Jesus is and can quote scripture very well as he did when he was tempting Jesus, Luke 4:1.     Jesus himself said that it is not enough to do things in His name  and say "My Lord and God"  Because if you don't keep the commandments and do His will He will say to you "I do not know you"  Mt 7:21.

If you truly love God then hearing this truth of purity would fill you with joy. If you are living a lie then you will reject the truth.  No one wants something they reject crammed down their throat. So it is a rejection of Jesus himself and what died for and what He has taught us.  That is the the lie of satin, he tells us our own desires trump those of Gods. This will only lead us to destruction.

If we really want to get to heaven we must first die to ourselves, that is to say, we must repent and live in the truth. To live in the truth is to find long term happiness. We must choose each day to do this.  To live in a lie you may find short term satisfaction but ultimate despair, self destruction and unhappiness.

Interior suffering 03/17/2010

Physical pain can be measured by degrees and machines, but Interior Suffering is experienced only by the soul and is known only to God. These great things were accomplished by interior suffering.

We can be sure that:
    - Dryness makes us patient as we seek to love God for Himself.
    - Mental anguish makes us depend upon His Wisdom.
    - Doubts increase our Faith when we act according to our beliefs rather than our reasoning.
    - Fear makes us trust God's Providence and Hope in His Goodness.
    -  Anxiety leads us to distrust ourselves and release our problems to an all-loving God.
    - Worry makes us realize our helplessness and instills a desire to throw ourselves into the Arms of His Infinite Wisdom.
    - Discouragement over our imperfections makes us strive for holiness with greater determination.
    - Uncertainty as to our future makes us look forward to the Kingdom.
    - Disappointments detach us from the things that pass and make us look to those that are everlasting.

Prayer 12/10/2009

Sometimes when we pray and it feels as if it falls on deaf ears. We pray for healing, and help. Often it does not happen and we think the Lord did not hear our crys. Remember always that He hears each of us. He asks us to take up our crosses everyday. All one has to do is look at a crucifix. Jesus is there, he carried his cross, he did not beg the father to take it away. He asked that He would do his will of the father. God will give us the grace to carry our crosses.

Lord Jesus, help my unbelief!  Increase my faith and trust in your saving power.  Give me confidence and perseverance, especially in prayer.  And help me to bring your healing love and truth to those I meet.
