Why Catholic?
_Because the Catholic
Church is the only church established by Jesus Christ the son of God who
died for our sins, was raised from the dead and who was foretold by the
prophets.
Because Christ established upon Peter and the Apostles the Church, one, holy, universal, apostolic, the marks of His church, with which He declared would remain till the end and that and that the gates of Hell would not prevail. Mat 16:18
Because the Catholic Church possesses all marks of this Church established by Christ:
The Catholic Church is ONE because throughout the entire world professes the same faith, has the same Liturgy and sacraments, and is governed by one and the same visible head, the Pope. All non-Catholic sects lack unity. Because of the principles of private judgment they are conditionally splitting and subdividing. They have no central authority to hold them together. Their doctrines and practices are constantly changing. More.....
The Catholic Church is HOLY because its Founder, Jesus Christ, is all-holy; because it doctrines are holy; because its means of sanctification, the sacraments, are holy; because it produces holy, saintly men and women.
The Catholic Church is UNIVERSAL because it has existed throughout the ages, teaches all nations, and maintains all the truths given to it by Christ. Man made practices may have changed surrounding the core truths but the doctrine and teachings of the church have remained unchanged for 2000 years.
The Catholic Church is APOSTOLIC because it was founded on Christ's Apostles, because it is governed by their doctrines through their successors, and because it never ceases to teach their doctrine. See the successors of Peter.
I am a Catholic because there is only one place that contains all the truths given to us by Jesus. As John says in Jn 21:25 - not everything Jesus said is recorded in Scripture. And finally because God could not possibly be the Author of the countless Christian sects with their contradictory teachings and practices. Scripture says this about divisions:
1 Cor 1:10 - I urge that there he no divisions among you.
Jn 10:16 - there shall be one fold and one shepherd
Phil 2:2 - be of same mind, united in heart, thinking one thing
All Other Christians denominations own their faith and knowledge of Jesus to the Catholic church. The Catholic Church is the only Christian Church to have preserved all the teachings of Jesus Christ both written Traditions and verbal Traditions.
